"The Grid" is a captivating exploration of the intersection between geometry, technology, and traditional craft. This exhibition showcases the work of three innovative artists who each interpret the concept of the grid through distinct mediums and perspectives. Valerie Calano, also known as DJ Explorateur, uses Perler beads to create textile and abstract patterns and logo-like images that evoke the aesthetic of early digital displays. Her work reimagines these simple plastic elements, layering them into compositions that draw the viewer into a tactile, colorful world often with a heavy dose of retro vibes. Sheila Klein's contributions to the exhibition straddle the realms of architecture, sculpture, and traditional women's crafts. Her pieces challenge the conventional boundaries of these disciplines, merging them into installations that are both monumental and intimate, paying homage to the grid's structural essence while celebrating the softness and texture of craft. Jane Richlovsky, through her grid-based animations, delves into the intersection of the mechanical and the organic. Her work emerges from the repetition of simple shapes, evolving into unexpected patterns and narratives. Her videos are an exploration of order and chaos, reflecting on the rhythmic dance between machine and human creativity. "The Grid" invites viewers to immerse themselves in the interplay between precision and artistry, between the digital and the handmade, offering a thought-provoking journey through contemporary interpretations of the grid.
